Review of the uncertainties associated to hull girder hydroelastic response and wave load predictions

This paper reviews the importance of uncertainties in hull girder loads influenced by flexible fluid structure interactions. The focus is on developments field hydroelastic modelling, simulation and model tests practical relevance to prediction wave load predictions their validation. It concluded that whereas methods for use design development assessment become increasingly useful, challenges realizing modelling can be attributed to: (1) limitations numerical suitably nonlinearities; (2) ambiguity tests; (3) systematic data emerging from computational, model- or full-scale methods. An approach recommended assess uncertainty responses loading an example provided demonstrate application procedure.
